Welcome to the Nottingham Philharmonic 2016-17 season!
Music Director: Mark Heron
Leader: Clare Bhabra
Having delivered a "jaw-dropping treble" in the opening concert of the season, our thoughts now turn to the new year and our Annual Family Concert in January 2017. This year we're celebrating some fantastic partnerships; musical writing partnerships, famous couples as diverse as Romeo & Juliet and Wallace & Gromit and even Nottingham's own Torvill & Dean! As usual, a feast of fantastic music for all the family.
Our March concerts are a complete cycle of Brahms’ four symphonies over one weekend, last performed in this way in Nottingham by the CBSO under the baton of Sir Simon Rattle some 30 years ago and well worth a repeat! Our season ends, as usual, in the timeless beauty of Southwell Minster with Elgar’s 1st Symphony.
